Ocean Palms PTO Teams up with Flagler Health+

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – The PTO at Ocean Palms Elementary School, in collaboration with Flagler Health+, is making strides toward a goal of $150,000 for a new play structure at the school that will replace the current 15-year-old playground. Flagler Health+ donated $10,000 toward the project as the school’s flagship sponsor and was especially drawn to the school’s playground initiative because of the unique ADA compliant components that are set to be included in the project—pieces such as the “otter float,” which allows for full wheelchair access on part of the play structure.

The check was presented by Dr. Mark Moon, a primary care physician with Flagler Health+ currently taking care of patients in the Nocatee community. Dr. Moon also provides a concierge medicine practice that will be located in the future Flagler Health+ Village at Nocatee.

“UF Health St. Johns is proud to be a part of the Nocatee community. We are especially pleased to sponsor Ocean Palms Elementary’s playground project that will benefit children of all ages and abilities,” Moon said. “Everything we do supports a vision to advance physical, social and economic health for the communities we serve.”

The playground, which provides much-needed mental breaks, stress reduction and important physical exercise for students, is a big part of the children’s school day and also aligns with the youth behavioral health initiatives that Flagler Health+ has taken in the community through efforts like their B.R.A.V.E. (Be Resilient and Voice Emotions) program, which launched in September of last year.

Ocean Palms Elementary School’s PTO is honored to work with Flagler Health+ on this exciting project for the students. Find out how you can help by contacting committee chairs, Jennifer Werba (Jennifer.Werba@gmail.com) and Stacy Rendzio (Stacy.Rendzio@gmail.com).
